　　Crawl 的意思是爬，那么爬酒吧又是什么意思呢？

　　不論單身與否，泡吧是許多人最喜歡的娛樂(lè)活動(dòng)。去酒吧的話，有的人prefer to stay in one place，而有些人則喜歡go to more than one pub on a night out。一晚上去好多酒吧，每個(gè)酒吧都坐上一會(huì)兒，然后再去其它酒吧，我們管這種在酒吧間串來(lái)串去的行為就叫做pub crawl。

　　Pub crawl 起源于19世紀(jì)，它也可以叫做a gin crawl 或是bar-hopping. It is the social act of a group of people drinking in a number of pubs in a single night。

　　The tradition of pub crawl is to walk from pub to pub with designated tee shirts for the bartenders to sign to show they were there. A new trend in this social networking is where the pub crawlers have anyone they meet also sign their shirts, kind of like a myspace friends network with ink and cloth.

　　至于用法上，你可以說(shuō)we're going on a pub crawl 或是we're doing a pub crawl。

　　Mall就是購(gòu)物中心，rat就是老鼠。Mall rat當(dāng)然并非真的指一種老鼠，它是指年輕人像老鼠那樣在mall里鉆來(lái)鉆去。

　　一到周末，許多年輕人都會(huì)去mall買(mǎi)東西。有的人也不見(jiàn)得想買(mǎi)什么，他們只是愿意呆在商場(chǎng)消磨時(shí)間。人們把經(jīng)常到mall去逛的年輕人叫做：mall rat。它是一個(gè)俚語(yǔ)用法，指的是 a young person who loiters about shopping malls，即指那些老喜歡到購(gòu)物中心去逛的年輕人。

　　例句：Hey, there's always something to do there for us mall rats. At least a dozen fast food places where we can buy a burger, a slice of pizza, ice cream--whatever. Ten different movie theaters. And a whole lot of people to watch, you know? I can, like, spend the whole day there, you know?
